Parent Volunteers Welcomed

Our classroom is only an extension of the community we live in.  Our success is directly proportional to the level of support the classroom receives from family and friends within the community.

We welcome your support in the following areas:
In class reading with children

Homework

Homework will be issued each Monday. It will be due on Fridays. Throughout the year, homework is used to reinforce literacy and numeracy skills learned at school. It is expected that each child completes their homework each week. Please don’t be afraid to help your child with homework – it’s an excellent role-modelling opportunity!

As a bare minimum your child will need to read a minimum of 2 Home Readers each night.  Please see the Home Readers tab of this Blog.

Birthdays

Birthdays are a special time of the year for each child! If your child would like to share a small birthday treat with the class, please send it in on or near their special day. Knives are not kept in our classroom and so we are unable to cut individual servings of cake for the class.  Please make sure you send individual-sized items.  Healthy options are always welcomed!

Munch and Crunch

We will stop work for a munch and crunch break around 10am each day.  Food choices impact heavily at school. What children eat will affect how they behave, how they perform at school and how they interact with others. Diet is important not only for physical health, but also for optimal mental development and functioning. Your child may only snack on a fresh piece of fruit or vegetable at this time.  If this is not in their lunch box they will be permitted to drink water for this break.
